Does anyone know if 35 inch tires will fit on a growler without rubbing

  • #2
I would really doubt it without some significant mods. You can put larger than stock, but not by much. I put new LT265/75R-16/10 123/120Q RAZR MT on our M1161 which are about 32" tires. Because they are wider than the stock Goodyears, they just barely touch in the back, but nothing to be concerned about. Here is a link to my post and some pictures.

That horizontal line painted on the frame indicates what should be the top of the tire height

I cant' say for sure on the M1161 LSV, but the M1163 PM is a definite no. The first obvious interference is at the front of the rear tires. Due to length limitations for loading the PM and its trailer or 120mm towed mortar into aircraft, everything was crammed forward in order to make the vehicle as short as necessary. So, little clearance there, roughly 6" less legroom, etc. Here's a PM side-shot to give the the idea:

I will tell you a hard NO. Because my 35's rub. Even after I cut the corner of the body back on the driver side rear wheel well(yes, i notched into the body, it was already rusty on mine). BUT. As I still have the 35's on there... if you notch the body, run it at max height at all times, and adjust that bolt on your lower A arm that limits how far the wheels can turn...you just get a turning radius worse than my F250 and they do fit.
