  • CTIS Wheel air line

Anyone have one for sale or a source/suggestion for one? I understand from Ras1 that they are fairly special and it is not a simple matter to just mount one up.

From the chassis to the hub or from the valve to the wheel ?

I found some on eBay a while ago. I took the top off, drilled and tapped it, so it would replicate the one that was broken. I sent the damaged top piece to Dave, W427 to play with. The manual said you cannot use one off-the-shelf when replacing. The manual didn't say what the required modification was but no matter, I made it work. After I bought two on eBay, the vendor doubled the price. They were CS units out of CA. There are lots of them (not CS) on eBay, cheap. Why not try to modify one to fit??? For about $30, not much of a loss if it doesn't work.

If you're talking the flexible air hose from the wheel hub to the wheel, they aren't anything special. I think they are about 8" of 0.187-bore PTFE hose with a -4 AN (JIC 37°) female fitting on one end and an NPT on the other. I'd have to pull one to verify. You could buy the stuff to make your own, but I would just take it to a local hydraulic supply to have them copy it for me (probably easiest and not much more $). I found the right type online at $15 each, but too long. Do you have any to copy?

If it's the wheel valve, it depends on the failure, and I have the cracked plate from M1161 here with a threaded-insert to repair it. It looks like it will be a viable permanent repair, but need to proof it. For options finding a complete unit M1161 or others may have leads.

It's the line from the axle to the valve on the wheel. I spoke with Ras1 and he had design specs on some for manufacture, but I didn't know if anyone had some NOS or even used serviceable around.

ID:	7578 OK, here's the section in the TM 2320-OR/B covering the non-off-the-shelf replacement unit. So, what's to lose by modifying one from eBay?

If you don't have the manual, I will find the link to the cloud and send it. It's somewhere in previous discussions on this forum.
Pg. 4-160 in the manual. BTW, overtightening the hose to the unit can crack the casting...Boo Hoo then.

Forgive me, but I'm still confused. First, the link is actually to a bunch of general CTIS components but if the specific hose I need is listed I missed it. Second, and more confusing, the TM says field level modification is needed but, other then wrapping with teflon tape I don't see WHAT modification is needed. Is the only field mod using teflon tape? and I did look in the manual on 4-159/160 but other then tape, I see no mod discussed.

Correct! It doesn't tell you what the mod. is!
If you need a hose, I have several as I've had all new ones made and the 8 old ones are here in a box.
Lemme' know and I'll mail you what you need.

Along this same line... I have a new wheel, but it is missing the fitting to attach the hose from the hub to the wheel. See picture (red arrow). The male to male connector is missing. I see the outside male is -4JIC, but I'm not sure of the one going into the wheel connection.

We have several spare wheels. Want me to go pull one down and see if I can figure it out? We may even have a spare. I owe you.

It is a "straight thread o-ring boss" fitting

Hi, I just bought a wheel and tire with almost the exact same problem. The wheel came with the CTIS stud? welded to rim. That was it. I need the fitting and the brass cap.
Is there a P# thread design, or does someone have one. Its for the spare only.
                      Thanks.
